I'm not much of a tree-hugger - but I do despise waste.
Which is why (hang on; this sounds like a cheesy advert voiceover) Madjester endeavours to avoid unneccessary packaging and labelling. Having something made which is just going straight in the bin seems plain daft.
Branded boxes and bags are all very nice, and can apparently make the purchase procedure a more enjoyable experience.
However, I'm more convinced you really don't need a logo on a bit of card attached with string, or 'Congratulations on your new Madjester blah blah..' to avoid post-purchase guilt. So with the exception of items/garments which may need 'care advice' or protective packaging, here are typical items I'll try and avoid and the reasons why:
- SWING TAGS: A logo on card/leather, etc, tied on with string.
You need reminding who made it and what it is? I don't think so.
- BRANDED BOXES:
Just more card destined for the bin - even if it's a recycle bin. If I get fancy Madjester boxes, trees everywhere will post me a dog poo. If you know of recycled card packaging engineered to be recycled again, please email info@madjester.co.uk.
- BRANDED BAGS:
A lot of these need an additive (at additional cost of course) to make them even partly bio-degradeable. The bags' design will affect ink coverage, which affects manufacture cost and demands more work to make them = more stuff to try and recycle + more costs. (You gotta un-squeeze the ink-trees sometime) So if I have to use 'em; I'll use plain ones.
- PACKAGING:
I'll be gutted and fairly surprised if your T-shirt breaks as it's dropped. But some other items might need some padding, and if they do I'll grumble as I put it in. (my ex says I do that anyway)
